General interest walk to Clearbury Down SSSI Nature Reserve

Saturday 08 June 2024
10:00 to 13:00

General interest walk to Clearbury Down SSSI nature reserve. This walk has some uneven ground and slopes. We hope to see Wiltshire’s county flower – the Burnt-tip orchid, (two years ago brilliant – last year none!) along with a range of other chalk downland plants. The Down is also a very good place for butterflies. We should also see Corn bunting and may hear Quail too, as they breed on the surrounding farmland.

More directions: . From the crossroads in Odstock village, take the single track lane running south, passing the Yew Tree pub on your right – carry on for approximately 2 miles. Go straight over minor cross roads and after another quarter of a mile, park on the verge by a small triangle of trees.
