Visit to Elf Cup Wood

Saturday 11 April 2026
10:00 to 15:00

An opportunity to explore Barry’s personal project in management of a deciduous woodland for biodiversity. The site is only 6.6 acres, but hopefully there should be plenty to see, with trees coming into leaf, spring flowers, woodland birds, perhaps a few reptiles, and various invertebrates. The work being undertaken to turn derelict coppice into a more diverse range of habitats produces wood fuel, charcoal, bean poles, pea sticks and hedging materials.

We’ll meet at 10:00, but the 15:00 finish time is just a suggestion. Your visit can be as long as you wish. Hot drinks will be provided, and I suggest you bring lunch. There is shelter in the event of foul weather, and a toilet on site. Meet in the lay-by between Sandleheath & Damerham, SP6 1QD https://maps.app.goo.gl/3KZ4pk3Md5ejCZkh9 Limited to 16 people. Please contact Barry to book a place. Leader: Barry Deakin, Tel: 07490 427527, Email: barrydeakin2@gmail.com
